CRAFT grew out of Chatham University’s longstanding commitment to sustainability, food systems, and community engagement. Building on the Falk School of Sustainability and Environment and the Food Studies program, CRAFT translates education and research into practical support for regional food businesses, farmers, and innovators.

In partnership with the Masters in Food Studies program, CRAFT integrates an interdisciplinary, hands-on curriculum with applied research and community-driven projects. Faculty, students, and local partners collaborate through co-creation, turning ideas and research into real-world strategies, tools, and initiatives that strengthen regional food systems.
