Democratizing Research for the Region

CRAFT practices a holistic systems research approach that that utilizes multiple methods to develop accessible resources that inform decision-makers across the food system. We have always been passionate about working with food businesses, non-profit organizations, community partners, and institutions. We pride ourselves on providing useful research, data, and resources to support systems-level change. Our research is divided into three main areas: Business Tools & Templates, Reports & Publications, and the Regional Food Systems Inventory.

Business Tools & Templates

The Business Tools & Templates page on CRAFT’s website provides a collection of free, practical resources designed to help food and farm entrepreneurs start, manage, and grow their businesses. It includes downloadable guides and editable templates such as a costing sheet for food products, a full sample business plan, resources for navigating local health-department regulations, and a wholesale producer list for sourcing ingredients. The page also offers sustainability toolkits and a guide for obtaining a limited winery license in Pennsylvania. Together, these tools support small and emerging food businesses by making business planning, financial management, compliance, and sustainable practices easier to implement.
