Case Study: Republic Food Enterprise Center
Case Study: Republic Food Enterprise Center
$0.00
Republic Food Enterprise Center was a food hub in Fayette County, PA. It was supported by funders and government agencies, but struggled and eventually closed. Since the closure, ongoing food systems work has indicated a need for infrastructure that would allow farmers an additional market, and provide regionally-sourced, minimally processed food to institutional and other large purchasers -- the same kind of services Republic provided. This case study attempts to understand why, despite a need for these services, Republic was unable to achieve financial sustainability.
