Greater Pittsburgh Food Action Plan

Pittsburgh Food Policy Council

CRAFT partnered with the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council to develop a strategic plan and advance the Greater Pittsburgh Food Action Plan, strengthening the Council’s ability to coordinate regional food systems work. The project focuses on aligning staff, board, and stakeholders around shared goals, building organizational capacity, and creating actionable strategies to advance equity, sustainability, and inclusion across the food system.

Our Approach
CRAFT conducted an inventory of assets and resources, assessed internal capacity, and surveyed and interviewed staff, board members, and partners to capture organizational strengths, challenges, and opportunities. Using this research, CRAFT facilitated collective discussions to articulate mission, vision, and priorities, while drafting key policies, procedures, and strategies to operationalize the Council’s goals.

Results
Deliverables include a comprehensive model document outlining mission, vision, theory of change, and management structure; a three-year monitoring and evaluation plan; a budget plan; an action plan with 15–18 month implementation steps; and raw data from research activities. Outcomes include enhanced organizational alignment, improved internal capacity, and a clear framework to guide PFPC’s network and drive progress on the Greater Pittsburgh Food Action Plan.
